N°94 Bríet

Born in Iceland, Bríet Ísis Elfar is a singer best known for her songs Esjan, Feimin, and Rólegur kúreki. Bríet’s musical career started for her at the young age of 15 when she started performing at off venue concerts at Iceland Airwaves. In her free time she was also often found singing at local jazz bars in Reykjavík and was even a participant in Iceland Got Talent. It was in 2018 when she released her first single In Too Deep and soon after released her EP 22.09.99.

Since then, she has released her debut album Kveðja which highlights a mixture of Scandinavian pop and country music. The album became a huge success, especially in Iceland, and 8 of her songs from the album made it into Spotify’s Top 10 list. In recognition of her work, Bríet’s album won album of the year at the 2021 Icelandic Music Awards.

Much of Bríet’s songs are co-written with Pálmi Ragnar Ásgeirsson, who noticed her early on in her music career. Together they wrote In Too Deep and knew immediately they were a good team. Ásgeirsson helped Bríet brand her music genre into a pop career

As for her personal life, Bríet, like most young girls, found a great interest in Miley Cyrus and the Hannah Montana industry. Her love for the character influenced her to learn guitar at the age of 13, soon before she started performing in her local restaurants. She has also been quoted saying she draws a lot of influence from her surroundings and conversations with family and friends. She is known for her talent of taking everyday experiences and turning them into songs.

Bríet can be found on Spotify, Instagram, and her Official Website.
