Featured in Apple music as the Nordic region’s newest rising star, the Danish-Faroese singer songwriter Brimheim is an artist worth knowing.
The stage name Brimheim is an homage to the Faroese roots of the artist Helena Heinesen Rebensdorff and means “Home of the breaking waves”.
She released her debut EP Myself Misspelled in 2020, which was very well received in Scandinavia and critically acclaimed. Following that EP she was nominated for the Hope of the Year award by the Association of Danish Music Critics.
Brimheim’s sound can be described as emotionally dark indie and her lyrics often portray anxiousness, sadness and vulnerability with a humorous twist. Brimheim herself has been candid about her experience of depression which has influenced her artistic expression a lot.
Earlier this year, Brimheim’s debut album was released by W.A.S. Entertainment. It is called Can’t hate myself into a different shape and includes 11 songs. In this album Brimheim continues to transform depression into something beautiful with her craftfully layered melodies and articulate lyrics.
Brimheim can be found on Spotify, Instagram and her official website.
