The Eye (1984) is the debut (and only studio) album by KUKL, the Icelandic post-punk/avant-garde band that featured a young Björk Guðmundsdóttir on vocals, alongside Einar Örn (later of The Sugarcubes). Released in 1984 on Crass Records, the album channels raw punk energy, experimental noise, and cryptic poetry into a chaotic and atmospheric sound. Produced by Penny Rimbaud of Crass, The Eye merges jagged guitars, driving bass, and unconventional rhythms with politically charged, surrealist lyrics.
The result is a visceral, confrontational listening experience, deeply rooted in the post-punk and anarcho-punk scenes of the early ’80s, yet uniquely Icelandic in tone and atmosphere.
For fans of Crass, Siouxsie and the Banshees, and early industrial punk.
