We welcome the Mexican artist Elena Petel to the Katla family. You can now see her work in our physical shop. Her personal artistic journey has been shaped by her curiosity—initially unconscious—about observing a city through its different scales and layers: mobility, interaction, and communication.
In her own words:
When I visited Katla, I saw colorful horse figures that, as Helga told me, are representative of Sweden, the Dala horse. I realized that I’ve illustrated horses several times without knowing why, and I understood that this figure acts as a symbol in many cultures, creating a special connection. Symbolic objects express what we value and sometimes help us identify with others. What will be the symbols that represent our era?
