Nº34 Alvar Aalto

Alvar Aalto (1889-1976) was a Finnish architect and designer. He was one of the godfathers of Nordic modernism which is what we know today to be the Nordic design style; minimalistic, functional and often includes furniture made out of wood.

Aalto designed at least fifty buildings during his successful career as an architect, most of which are in Finland but others in Germany, USA, Denmark etc. But he also made furniture and glassware that are some of Nordic-style’s classics and are still hugely popular, like the Aalto-Ittala vase, Paimio chair and the Model 60 stacking stool.
