Nº49 Hanna Anonen

Hanna Anonen is a product and spatial designer from Helsinki, Finland. Her background is in carpentry, industrial design, and applied art and design. That being said, she is best known for her work on products and interiors. She is able to turn everyday objects into pieces of art through the use of contrasting colours to really highlight Nordic design.

Although Anonen’s designs originate in Finland, her work can be found globally. It was just this year that she was awarded Young Designer of the Year Award from Design Forum Finland. Additionally, she has both partnered and had her work featured in major media including Vogue, ELLE Décor, Made By Choice, and IVANA Helsinki

Some of Anonen’s most notable and known work includes “Cocktail”, “The Beebee”, and the “Merry-go-round”. The simple, yet colourfully exquisite “Cocktail” piece works as a light fixture and is built up of small wooden pieces inspired by the bright colours of fizzy drinks. Additionally, after living in France for a couple months, Anonen was inspired by the culture to create her famous piece “The Beebee”, a small egg shaped box used to store safekeeps. Lastly, like “Cocktail” the “Merry-go-round” is built up of small slats of wood that are designed to be used as a small side table or stool. These are just some of her amazing pieces.
