Nº50 Copenhagen Contemporary

Starting up only five years ago, Copenhagen’s international art centre, known as Copenhagen Contemporary (CC), has become one of Scandinavia’s largest venues for contemporary art. The hall showcases art installations by talented up and coming artists alongside the work of known names such as Yoko Ono, Bruce Nauman, Carsten Nicolai, and more.

The art available for viewing at CC varies in many ways. Popular formats seen in the hall include total installations, performance art, and even monumental video works. This variety allows for art to be entered and sensed throughout one’s entire body to truly engage in a breathtaking experience. In addition to this, CC hosts an array of events both in Copenhagen and around the world. You can attend concerts, workshops, art walks and more!

It was recently announced that this year the CC plan to highlight the Yet, it moves! research project created by Irene Campolmi, Marie Nipper, and Jannie Haagermann. The goal of the project was to explore the interconnected movements across scales from the micro to the macro cosmos. The theme of the installation, movement. It follows the main ideology that no matter what we as humans do, the universe will continue to move around us.

That being said, the exhibition will be divided into three different sections: movement above us, movement within us, and movement around us. The pieces themselves will seek to combine aspects of the art aspect itself, alongside the scientific data gathered from the research. The pieces will be spread around seven different public locations throughout Copenhagen from May to September of 2023.
