Born and raised in a small town in Norway, Lillian Halima Anderssen, or better known for her stage name Lil Halima, is one of Norway’s up and coming musicians. The singer songwriter utilizes musical aspects from different genres including pop, smooth soul, and electronica to create the R&B/Soul soft-spoken music she is known for.
Lil Halima’s interest in music started from a young age from the influences of her father. Much of her music was inspired from the Kenyan music and American hip hop he would bring home to her after his travels. She draws a lot of inspiration from artists such as Stevie Wonder, 2Pac, SZA and more. This range of music, including her musical background in piano and violin, is what has helped contribute to Lil Halima’s musical versatility at such a young age.
The musician was discovered in 2017, at the age of 19. In fact, it was right after graduating from high school that she started to consider pursuing music professionally. It was later that year that she moved to Oslo and began making friends and networking in the music industry. It was in the winter of the same year that she began posting covers and her own songs on Instagram for people to admire. This is where she was discovered by Universal Music and was later signed to their affiliate Def Jam Norway.
After signing with Universal, Lil Halima released her first two singles Abstract and Train in 2018. This led her to appear in a variety of Norwegian music festivals. It was soon after this she released her first EP, love songs for bad lovers and is currently set out to release two more EPs this year. Such great accomplishments for someone just over 20 years old!
