The Vintage Caravan is a hard rock band from Iceland, classic style with a modern twist. The band was formed in 2006 by Óskar Logi Ágústsson (guitar and vocals) and Guðjón Reynisson (drums) when they were only 12 years old! They kept at it and worked on their passion and in 2011, at the age of 17 they self-published a debut self titled album, The Vintage Caravan.
A year later, the band signed a deal with an Icelandic record label and published their second album Voyage, now with a new band member, Alexander Örn Númason (bass). Soon after, they changed labels and signed up with a German record label which enabled them to make a music video for one of the tracks of Voyage, Expand your mind (see video below). The video went viral and the label re-released Voyage to a much wider audience. At the same time they were playing some rock festivals, so they were gaining listeners.
Guðjón, one of the founding members, quit the band in 2015 and Stefán Ari Stefánsson took his place. Shortly after they published their third studio album, Arrival. Their fourth album is called Gateways (2018) and the fifth is brand new, called Monuments (2021).
Most of their records have received great reviews, Monuments in particular. It seems like the band keeps getting better and better.
The band members have stated that Monuments is their most personal album so far. For example the song This One’s For You is about Óskar’s brother that passed away in 2018.
